Two New York teens arrested in Plainville on Tuesday afternoon are believed to be part of an organized crime ring defrauding Santander Bank locations across Connecticut, New York and New Jersey, police records show.
Plainville officers were called four separate times Tuesday to the Santander Bank on East Main Street for reports that several men driving a car with New York license plates repeatedly entered the bank and used prepaid debit cards under different names to withdraw thousands of dollars in cash.
That sequence matched what Santander officials were piecing together about the scheme earlier in the day and were nearly identical to reports coming in at the same time to police in Farmington, Avon, Newington, West Hartford and East Hartford, records released Wednesday show.
