HARTFORD — New renderings for the $100 million upgrade of Hartford’s XL Center show early designs for an expanded concourse, bunker suites and a club area in a scaled-back renovation of the lower portion of the aging arena.
The widespread shutdown of theaters and sports arenas during the pandemic has opened up the opportunity for the XL Center to begin into a state-taxpayer funded renovation without working around sports, concerts or other events.
The new plans include bunker suites and a club area on the floor level, bringing spectators closer to the action, long a trend in modern arena construction.
