Two New Haven teens detained in connection with a series of carjackings Thursday in New Haven had led police on a pursuit, crashed a stolen and ran from the scene before they were captured, according to new details released Friday.
The pair ultimately was located hiding in a basement and police found two BB guns with “realistic-looking firearm features” in the driver’s seat of the crashed car and at a nearby trash can.
The incident comes amid a rash of armed carjackings and attempted robberies in similar circumstances across New Haven, Hamden and Woodbridge this week, all of which involved one or two young teenage boys pointing apparent firearms at would-be victims in quick succession.
