A New Haven multi-family home fire sent two firefighters to the hospital and displaced six people, Wednesday morning.
The fire, originally reported at 64 Monroe Street, actually occurred a few homes down at 55 Monroe, New Haven Assistant Fire Chief Justin McCarthy said. Firefighters were dispatched to the location at 11:34 a.m., and upon arriving to the scene just five minutes later, saw the blaze extend from the first floor of the building to the second, he added.
After a few moments, a second alarm was transmitted “due to the volume of the fire and the uncertainty of any occupants in the building,” McCarthy said.
