New Haven man arrested for refusing to wear face mask inside courthouse, screaming at staff, police say

A New Haven had to be removed from the city’s courthouse Friday afternoon after he refused to wear a face mask, screamed at court staff and caused a disturbance.

Pedro Borrero, 36, was arrested by state police and charged with second-degree breach of peace and violating Gov. Ned Lamont’s executive order requiring face masks inside, according to a report released Friday evening.

State troopers were called to the New Haven Superior Court on Elm Street just before 3 p.m. Friday for a report of a disturbance and were told Borrero had entered the courthouse without a mask, according to state police.
