With a flurry of promotions, New Britain’s police department rebuilt its command staff and supervisory ranks Thursday following two high-level retirements.
The city formally honored Deputy Chief Ben Murphy, who was promoted earlier in the year, and promoted lieutenants Matthew Marino and Matthew Butkiewicz to captain.
Under Chief Christopher Chute, those three, along with Capt. Adam Rembisz, are now the command staff of the 155-member police force.
“We’re celebrating hard work - the cream always rises to the top,” said Chute, who praised police families in the audience for their sacrifices of time and family events.
