The New Britain police have put a patrol officer on administrative leave after he was charged with forgery.
New Britain detectives arrested Ragaini, a six-year veteran of the patrol division, earlier this month after a brief investigation.
Chief Christopher Chute said the charge involves off-duty behavior, but did not elaborate. A court record indicates it stems from an incident in February.
Ragaini, a 35-year-old Middletown resident, is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court in August to face the second-degree forgery charge. If he’s ultimately convicted of the Class D felony, Ragaini could face a prison sentence of up to five years
