A New Britain man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after he beat a toddler until she almost died, New Britain’s state’s attorney said Thursday.
Dylan Vitale, 22, was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years, followed by five years of special parole, Brian W. Preleski said. He was convicted of first-degree assault in New Britain Superior Court.
Vitale was arrested on June 24, 2019, the day after the 18-month-old showed up at Connecticut Children’s with severe injuries that made doctors suspicious. The girl had multiple bone fractures, bruising and a lacerated pancreas, Preleski said.
The prosecutor on the case, Christian Watson, said in a news release that the child abuse case is one of the most severe he has seen in his career.
