A 45-year-old New Britain man confessed to stealing thousands of dollars worth of tires from a U.S. Postal Service maintenance garage in Hartford, federal investigators said Tuesday.
Steven Knox, who previously worked for a New Britain repair shop that towed broken-down mail trucks, admitted getting into the fenced repair yard using an access card he kept from that job, according to investigators.
Postal inspectors accused him of sneaking into the maintenance yard on Weston Street in the middle of the night on May 19, driving his pickup truck up to a storage shed and then making off with 43 tires.
