Some 30 people were displaced by a fire at a New Britain apartment building Monday, the fire chief said.
The fire at The Ellis House apartments, 377 Stanley St., was reported at 5:15 p.m., Chief Raul Ortiz said. No one was injured, even though some people were jumping out of windows; the brick building has two stories, plus a ground level.
Everyone was able to get out on his or her own, and no rescues were necessary, Ortiz said. There weren’t as many people in the building as there would have been at night.
