Neglected and malnourished horses seized from a Montville farm last year are up for adoption, state officials announced.
The eight horses have received extensive medical care and rehabilitation at the state’s Second Chance Large Animal Rehabilitation program in Niantic, Attorney General William Tong and Agriculture Commissioner Bryan P. Hurlburt said.
Tong last month moved for permanent custody of the horses after animal control officers seized them from Laurel Ledge Farm, which had offered riding lessons for years. Owner Michelle Wilson has since agreed to relinquish custody of the animals, officials said.
Wilson has been charged with with nine counts of cruelty to animals.
