A woman who police said drove head-on into an oncoming car in Naugatuck last year, killing a driver and seriously injuring her passenger, was charged with manslaughter Thursday, police said.
Joie S. Cascella, 41, of Waterbury was under the influence of drugs and speeding at the time of the collision, they said. Her charges include second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle; second-degree assault with a motor vehicle; illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs and reckless driving.
She was in custody early Thursday on $500,000 bail and was scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Waterbury.
