A motorist on Route 44 hit two people with pepper spray during a dispute at a political rally in Coventry on Saturday afternoon, police reported.
After the weekly Black Lives Matter rally on town property along Route 44, several people from that group got into a verbal dispute with people nearby holding a Blue Lives Matter rally with Trump election banners, according to police.
During the argument, someone in a passing car sprayed what appears to have been pepper spray through a window. One person from the Black Lives Matter group was sprayed, and one Trump protestor was partly sprayed, police reported.
