Monday’s shooting of a man by a Derby officer wasn’t captured on video

In a preliminary report released Wednesday, Danbury State’s Attorney Stephen J. Sedensky III said Derby police don’t have body cameras, and their police cars lack dashboard cameras as well.

Sedensky said he will conduct an investigation of Officer Patrick Foley’s use of force. Foley has 13 years of service as a police officer.

About 7:15 a.m. Monday, Foley was in his patrol car at Division Street and Atwater Avenue on the Ansonia-Derby line when Cornelius McCullough, 29, and a juvenile approached.

The report said Foley shot McCollough, after McCoullough fired a gun. It said “An apparently unrelated passing car was struck by Mr.
