The MIT researcher accused of fatally shooting Yale grad student Kevin Jiang appeared in a Connecticut court for the first time Thursday morning since he was arrested by federal agents last week in Alabama after three months on the run.
Qinxuan Pan has been charged with murder and will be held on a potentially record $20 million bond after a hearing in Superior Court in New Haven.
“It’s a record for bond in the state of Connecticut, I’m sure of it,” said attorney William Gerace, who will defend Pan. “It’s too much, it’s exorbitant. I don’t know what to say.
