A 26-year-old Meriden woman was charged Sunday in connection with an early morning hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian.

Police are not publicly identifying the victim yet, but said he died after being hit by a car a little before 12:40 a.m. Sunday.

The man evidently was walking near 2121 N. Broad St., a four-lane stretch of road divided by a grassy median, when he was hit. He was severely injured, Sgt. Stanley Zajac reported. A Hunters Ambulance crew took the victim to MidState Medical Center, where he died, Zajac said.

The driver kept going, but the damaged car - a 2016 Nissan Rogue - was found later by Newington police.
