Mayor Joe Ganim and acting Bridgeport police Chief Rebeca Garcia used a morning radio interview to tell residents that a recent spate of violence is a top priority for authorities and city officials.
The interview comes within a week that has seen three killings in the city, bringing the total number of homicides for the year up to 17.
“I want people to know this is a top priority, certainly for the chief and the department, for me as mayor and certainly all our departments," said Ganim in an interview with WICC 660 shared on YouTube by the city,
Ganim went on to say the city is shifting resources to address the problem, but cautioned that it is not a problem that the mayor or the police department can solve alone.
