A Manchester mother accused of killing her 3-year-old son last fall repeatedly hit the child in the few months he was in her care and openly fantasized to the baby’s father and her new boyfriend about the day she would no longer have to raise the toddler, new court documents reveal.
Thousands of text messages reviewed by police show 30-year-old Alesha Cain began smacking and berating her child almost immediately upon his return to her care in June 2020, after at least a year in his grandmother’s care in North Carolina. The messages show Cain’s frustration — and physical aggression — apparently only escalated until her child’s death last fall.
