MANCHESTER — The town of Manchester has issued a water conservation alert as reservoirs dropped below 80 percent capacity, while the agency that supplies water to much of Greater Hartford says its supply remains more than adequate.
“Hopefully, cooler weather, historically lower outdoor water use, and a wet fall will be enough to reverse this trend,” a water department news release said.
Water users are asked to take shorter showers, run dishwashers and washing machines only with full loads, shut off water while washing hands, shaving and brushing teeth, and minimize watering of lawns and gardens. More voluntary measures include avoiding power washing of homes, sidewalks, and driveways, cutting down on car washing and decreasing swimming pool refills.
