Angelo Alleano Jr., the Manchester firefighter accused of breaking into homes and raping four women between 2001 and 2008, was ordered held in lieu of $1 million bail after his arraignment Friday in Superior Court in Hartford.
Tolland State’s Attorney Matthew C. Gedansky asked Judge James Sicilian to impose $5 million bail for charges of first-degree sexual assault and second-degree burglary, citing the seriousness of the charges, the strength of the state’s case and the danger Alleano would pose to the community if released.
Gedansky also told the judge that at least one victim is deceased and that police are working to verify that.
