MANCHESTER — Manchester Fire Chief Dave Billings, who saw the worst and luckiest days of many people’s lives in a career spanning three decades, will retire in early March, town officials announced Thursday.
“Dave Billings’ contributions to (the Fire/Rescue/EMS Department) and the community at large will show dividends for years to come,” General Manager Scott Shanley said. “We are grateful for the spirit of service, excellence and professionalism he has brought as fire chief and emergency management director. He leaves big shoes to fill.”
Billings, 63, became a volunteer firefighter in his native Suffield at age 15.
