The planning and zoning commission approved a local theater owner’s plan to capitalize on renewed enthusiasm for drive-in movies during the coronavirus pandemic.
Ali Davis, owner of Parkade Cinemas & Entertainment, Inc., has said he will begin showing movies on one outdoor screen in the front lot of his building on June 20 and on another screen behind the building later in the year.
“If it wasn’t for this whole pandemic, I’m not sure I even would have thought of it ... but this meets all the criteria (for social distancing and other precautions)," Davis said in an interview before the commission’s meeting on Monday.
