Man who tried to kidnap and drown woman in New Canaan also tried to rape her, police say

A man arrested in May after he intentionally drove into a woman he saw walking down a New Canaan road and then tried to kidnap and drown her also tried to rape her, police said Thursday.

Police said they added charges of criminal attempt to commit first-degree aggravated sexual assault and criminal attempt to commit first-degree sexual assault to the charges for Mynor Romeo Alvarado-Canahui, 31, of Woodward Avenue in Norwalk. He already had been charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, first-degree assault and first-degree kidnapping.
