A Naugatuck man faces child abuse charges after he forced a child to sleep in a locked closet for months and inflicted painful punishment including forcing him to kneel on thumb tacks and drink hot sauce until he vomited, police said Wednesday.
Kevin Grant, 31, of Forest Street was arrested last week and charged with second-degree assault, intentional cruelty to persons, risk of injury to a child, second-degree reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct, they said.
His wife, Kaitlin Elizabeth Baptiste, 29, of the same address also was arrested because she was aware of the abuse and let it happen, police said.
