A driver died Wednesday after the car he was driving crossed into the lane for opposing traffic and struck a parked rig, police said.
The crash happened at South Main and Verzier streets about 12:05 a.m., they said. A northbound 2005 Nissan Altima crossed the centerline, went into the south lane and struck the tractor trailer, which was not occupied.
The male driver was extricated from the car and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:39 a.m., according to police.
Members of the police department’s crash reconstruction team continues to investigate the cause of the accident.
