A Long Island man accused of attacking a Black hotel worker in June has also been charged with phoning in threats to the victim’s attorney, according to recently released court records.
Philip Sarner, 39, of Oceanside, N.Y., was charged with second-degree harassment for calling New London attorney M. John Strafaci’s office and saying, “John Strafaci watch your back, you will be the next one,” and making a racist comment about Strafaci’s client, the hotel clerk Sarner and a woman are accused of assaulting.
Sarner posted $30,000 bail in the harassment case as well as $75,000 bail in the assault case, in which he is charged with two counts of second-degree assault and a single count of first-degree intimidation due to bias.
