On June 1st, 2015, football innovator Bob Diaco invented the historic rivalry that would simply become known as the ConFLiCT.
That October, the Huskies trounced UCF in Orlando and hoisted the trophy for all the world to see. Mission accomplished.
But UCF did not reciprocate Bob’s enthusiasm for this rivalry. Many believe the rivalry died the following year, when new UCF coach Scott Frost defeated the Huskies at Rentschler Field and left the trophy out on the sidelines, his team refusing to accept it, even though they had just evened up the all-time series.
Frost would eventually lead the Knights to a national championship in the 2017 season and depart, conveniently leaving the storied legacy of the ConFLiCT behind.
