State legislators have asked regulators to suspend a July 1 increase in Eversource’s electricity rates to allow for a review of the charges following complaints from residents regarding increased bills.
The request comes amid concerns over increased delivery charges for electricity, a hike that Eversource said relates to a deal between the state and Dominion Energy Inc., the operator of the Millstone power plant in Waterford.
The letter from lawmakers asked the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority to suspend rate increases that relate to the transmission charge, the electric system improvements tracker charge and the non-bypassable federally mandated congestion charge.
