A would-be robber was foiled Sunday night when he reached into the cash drawer at a Bloomfield convenience store and found it empty, police said.
The attempted holdup happened about 10:10 p.m. at the One Stop Bloomfield Convenience Store & Smoke Shop, 1020 Blue Hills Ave. The robber came in wearing a mask, but the clerk, who was not behind the counter, didn’t think anything of it because of the governor’s directive to wear masks to stop the spread of the coronavirus,, Capt. Stephen Hajdasz said.
The employee made his way to the counter to help him but backed away when he saw the gun, he said.
