Jury trials will resume in Connecticut in June after 15-month suspension due to COVID-19 concerns

Jury trials will resume in Connecticut courts in June after a 15-month suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic, officials announced Tuesday.

With the state’s last remaining COVID-19 restrictions being lifted Wednesday, increased vaccinations, low test positivity rates and “enhanced sanitization and ventilation protocols and procedures,” inside courthouses, Judge Patrick L. Carroll III, the chief court administrator, said it’s time “for us to restore the essential and fundamental component of our system of justice — the right to a trial by jury.” The process will begin June 1 as courthouses across the state will resume summoning prospective jurors for service.
