Meriden police finally charged the ex-boyfriend of Perrie Mason with her murder on Tuesday, almost 10 months after Mason was found dead near an industrial building in Waterbury following a three-day search.
Jason Darnell Watson, 39, was long described by police as the prime suspect in Mason’s disappearance and death last August but until this week had been charged only in connection with a domestic violence incident between the couple shortly before her death.
In the intervening months, detectives led a “lengthy investigation” that culminated in a judge granting police a warrant to formally charge Watson murder this week, police said in a short written announcement Tuesday afternoon.
