In survey, Mansfield residents told UConn they were “seriously concerned” about coronavirus spread when students returned

MANSFIELD — Before UConn reopened, Mansfield residents had serious concerns about the university’s reopening plan and the potential for coronavirus outbreaks to spread into the community, according to a survey published by UConn this week.

The university used a platform called Thoughtexchange to elicit feedback from the community, mostly full-time Mansfield residents. The survey, which ran end of July to the beginning of August, garnered responses from 567 people, who submitted public “thoughts” and also rated the “thoughts” of other participants.

The top three highest-rated thoughts all revolved around concerns that UConn’s reopening would greatly impact the community and put non-college students at risk for coronavirus exposure.
