Isaias was downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm overnight, but still promises to deliver fierce wind gusts of up to 70 mph that may topple trees and power lines, triggering power outages.
It won’t bring impressive rain, said Gary Lessor, chief meteorologist at Western Connecticut State University’s Connecticut Weather Center. Because the storm is tracking to the west, Connecticut will get more wind but less much-needed rain.
The hurricane was downgraded to a tropical storm about 3 a.m., when its wind dropped from 75 mph to 70 about 35 miles southwest of Greenville, North Carolina, Lessor said.
