With reservoirs below 70 percent of capacity, Bristol on Monday asked businesses and homeowners to go easy on using water for a while.
Weeks of hot, dry weather have depleted water reserves in numerous Connecticut communities: Manchester issued a similar appeal last week, and Southington and Norwalk have been calling for conservation since early summer.
“Lack of precipitation across the state has required many water departments to enacted restrictions to their customers back in June,” said Robert Longo, water superintendent in Bristol.
The city hoped to avoid restrictions because its reservoirs stayed above 75 percent of capacity well into the summer.
