The Griswold Inn, a historic establishment in Essex that has been serving food and drink since 1776, had to close on Easter Sunday after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.
The inn had 350 reservations on Sunday. Many of those customers were given takeout meals of turkey and ham free of charge, said dining manager Maura Devlin.
Additional employees will be tested for the coronavirus; the results will determine when the inn can reopen, Devlin said.
Under state guidelines, restaurant employees who test positive for the coronavirus should inform their employers and follow state testing and contact tracing protocols through the local health district.
