Hartford police investigating two Saturday shootings

The homicide occurred at about 7:30 p.m. when patrol officers responded to 175 Enfield St. on a shot spotter activation, police said.

Upon arrival, the victim, Alton Veal, 30, of 665 Garden Street, Hartford, was located suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased, police said.

Police said a crime scene was located and secured and that the department’s Major Crimes and Crime Scene divisions have assumed the investigation.

Earlier in the evening, at about 6 p.m., patrol officers responded to the area of 366 Wethersfield Avenue on a 911 call of a person shot, police said.
