According to police, the incident began at 3 p.m., while detectives from the Vice and Narcotics Unit were conducting a drug investigation in the southeast district of the city.
Detectives saw a motor vehicle being driven in “an extremely reckless fashion,” police said. They turned on their emergency lights and conducted a motor vehicle stop at 71 Bushnell Street.
With badges displayed, detectives identified themselves as members of the Hartford police. A man emerged from the vehicle and began to flee, police said. While detectives tried to detain the subject, he produced a firearm and pointed it at the officers, police said.
