Hartford man charged with eight offenses after trying to stab coworker with box cutter Wednesday

A Hartford man was arrested Wednesday after he tried to stab his 62-year-old coworker then slashed his tires, South Windsor police said Thursday.

Karanja K. Thomas, 43, was charged with second-degree assault of an elderly victim, second-degree threatening, second-degree reckless endangerment and five more offenses.

The two men, who work together at Macy’s Distribution Center, got in an argument, the victim told police.

After getting into their vehicles, Thomas threw a water bottle into the man’s car which got “lodged under the gas pedal,” forcing him to pull into the parking lot at Splash Pool Supply.
