A man who police said stole a car with a baby inside in Hamden Monday has been charged with kidnapping.
In addition to a charge of second-degree kidnapping, Richardson Wong-Aponte, 37, of Woodin Street in Hamden faces charges of third-degree larceny and risk of injury to a minor. He was in custody on $250,000 bail Tuesday morning. He also was arrested on charges from warrants out of West Haven, Orange and Milford, police said.
According to Capt. Ronald Smith, shortly before 4:15 p.m. Monday Wong-Aponte got into a car that was left idling outside a store at Dixwell Avenue and Woodin Street.
