For the second-straight season, a former UConn baseball star has earned a World Series ring. On Sunday night, Matt Barnes and the Boston Red Sox captured the 2018 World Series over the Los Angeles Dodgers, winning four games to one.
Barnes pitched in 2.1 innings and allowed just two hits with no runs on his record while earning the win in Game 1. He was a critical part of the Red Sox bullpen all postseason, appearing in 10 games with just a 1.04 ERA.
Last season, Barnes’s former teammate George Springer won World Series MVP after the Houston Astros knocked off the Dodgers in a seven-game series.
