With the 2016 Olympics in the books, UConn alumni tied for 10th among all schools in medal count.
Former UConn athletes earned six Olympic medals after the United States women’s basketball team beat Spain in the gold medal game on Saturday and the Canadian women’s soccer team beat Brazil in the bronze medal match on Friday.
Sue Bird, Tina Charles, Maya Moore, Breanna Stewart and Diana Taurasi led the Americans to their medal, while Stephanie Labbe patrolled the goal for the Canadians.
Those six medals won by former Huskies was tied for 10th-most among American colleges and universities.
