Maryland started on a tear and survived an early second-half push by UConn to take home the win tonight in the night game of the Jimmy V Classic in Madison Square Garden.
The No. 6 Maryland Terrapins took it to the UConn Huskies early, building a big lead in the first half and taking a 16-point advantage into the break and holding on despite a furious UConn rally to win, 76-66.
Maryland won with defense early on, as the Huskies looked lost when they had the ball. Shonn Miller was the team's leading scorer at the half with four points.
