Fewer than 700 Connecticut homes and businesses remained without power Sunday morning, three days after a tornado with winds reaching 110 mph and a series of powerful microbursts caused extensive damage in the New Haven area.
The largest number of outages were in North Haven, where 325 United Illuminating customers were in the dark around 11 a.m. Sunday. About 100 UI customers in Hamden were still disconnected and about 20 each in New Haven and North Branford.
UI said in a news release that “customers in areas where damage is so severe that crews will have to rebuild the electric system” were expected to have their power restored by Monday.
