The Federal Emergency Management Agency approved a grant Monday that would allow unemployed workers in Connecticut to collect an additional $300 a week in federal assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The grant approval comes several weeks after the $600 of weekly assistance to unemployed approved by Congress in the CARES Act lapsed amid failed partisan negotiations.
With no deal in sight, President Donald Trump signed an executive order freeing up federal money to provide additional funds to those who lost jobs during the pandemic.
FEMA said that the state has agreed to administer the federal assistance.
