A convicted felon’s plan to get around the law that bans him from owning a gun backfired when he fashioned a weapon out of a flare gun and accidentally shot himself, police said.
Josue Saravina-Pineda, 26, of Norwalk was wounded near his right shoulder, they said. He turned himself in Monday on charges of criminal possession of a firearm and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
According to police, the accident happened Saturday. Officers were called to Norwalk Hospital for a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
