HARTFORD — The family of a 44-year-old man killed in a grisly hit-and-run on Wethersfield Avenue on Thursday are calling for a crackdown on racing and reckless driving, which they hope will prevent future tragedies in the Hartford neighborhood.
Relatives plan to gather at the scene of the crash on Sunday to remember the victim, who they identified as Luis Daniel Rodriguez, a New Britain father of three. A younger sister, Noelia Colon, said they will also be spreading their message that Rodriguez might be alive today if people would stop racing and speeding on Wethersfield Avenue and if the city had taken stronger steps to enforce traffic laws and improve public safety in the Barry Square neighborhood.
