Police are investigating the interruption of an online meeting of a Fairfield racial justice group Thursday night with racist remarks and images.
The unknown person used racial epithets and shared screen images of slaves during the public meeting of the Racial Equity and Justice Task Force, the police chief said Friday. The incident happened about 7:30 p.m.
Chief Robert Kalamaras said the task force quickly called police, and the department immediately began investigating.
“This is something that we take extremely seriously and will investigate to the fullest extent,” Kalamaras said. “There is no place for this type of racist behavior and language in our community and we will do everything we can to identify the person who committed this disgusting act and hold them responsible.
