Eversource crews pushed Tuesday afternoon to restore power to most of the remaining 20,000 customers still without it a full week after Tropical Storm Isaias roared through the Northeast, causing widespread damage and power outages in every corner of Connecticut.
The utility must restore about another 8,000 customers Tuesday evening to make good on its pledge to have 99% of customers back online by midnight and crews expect to hit that number hours before that deadline, Eversource President of Electrical Operations Craig Hallstrom said.
Even then, as many 12,000 customers may have to wait at least another day as crews grapple with the most difficult, time-consuming repairs still left on the utility’s to do list, he added.
