EAST HARTFORD — The town council settled a police officer’s human rights complaint, giving her a lump sump payment and a year of paid leave in return for her retirement.
The council on Wednesday voted 8-0 to accept the town attorney’s recommendation to pay Investigator Courtney Desilet $40,000 and place her on administrative leave “to fully and finally” settle her complaint to the state Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities.
Desilet contended in the complaint filed last year that she was denied advancement to sergeant because of her gender and despite her top performance on a promotional exam.
