Two Black police officers who were arrested on larceny charges Wednesday were treated more harshly than their white counterparts, the police union charged Thursday.
“We believe this case is part of a pattern of racially discriminatory behavior by Chief Scott Sansom’s administration,” the union said.
Sgt. Ian Allison, 51, and Officer Robert Jones, 54, both face a charge of attempted second-degree larceny. On Aug. 4, a construction contractor told police that Allison and Jones sought payment authorization for more than five hours for a road job, the department’s minimum for such work, police spokesman Lt. Josh Litwin said.
